Two Microsoft owned things that have never come together are Windows and Halo, that is until today. With E3 approaching Microsoft has announced that Halo will be coming to both Windows Phone 8 and Windows 8 this summer in the form of Spartan Assault. The game will be made by 343 Industries and it will be the first Halo game made for touch devices.

Halo: Spartan Assault will be a top-down arcade-style action shooter. It’s a completely new way to play Halo. 343 really has tried to push the limits of phone and tablet graphics. The result is a stunning game with excellent graphics. Controls for the game consist around left and right virtual joysticks. The left controls movement while the right controls shooting and aiming. If you’ve ever played Gun Bros you will be right at home.

Halo Spartan Assault will be landing on both Windows Phone 8 and Windows 8 next month. At launch it won’t support Xbox 360 controllers, but that should be added in later. The game will cost $6.99 when it launches. It took a while for Halo to arrive on Windows, but it looks like the wait was worth it.
