Huawei teases water-resistant Ascend W2, launching this month

The Huawei Ascend W2 has shown up on our radar a few times in the last month, but never in an official capacity. Earlier this week Huawei finally addressed the upcoming phone with an interesting photo on their Facebook page. In the photo the device appears to be inside a swirling funnel of water, like a tsunami.

The Ascend W1 was Huawei’s first Windows Phone device. It had solid mid-range specs, but nothing special. The W2 improves upon every aspect, and if this new teaser image is any indication it could have some water-resistant features as well. To our knowledge there haven’t been any mainstream water-resistant Windows Phone devices. Huawei could be the first to really market the feature.

So far we’ve seen photos of the W2 in cyan, red, and yellow.  Rumors from April claim the W2 will have a 4.3″ 720p display, 1.5GHz processor, and 8MP camera. The W2 should be a nice upgrade from the W1. Anyone thinking about this device?
