VEVO, edjing, and a slew of other Windows 8 apps released


One week ahead of Microsoft’s annual BUILD conference a slew of new Windows 8 apps have been released. In order to showcase the “app momentum for Windows 8” Microsoft has highlighted a few of the apps coming to Windows 8 this week.

First up is edjing, a social DJ’ing app with a huge online community. The edjing app puts a wide variety of DJ tools at your fingertips. It allows users to mix songs from their personal library and share them with your friends. The Windows 8 app even has an exclusive new effect called “Pitch Shifter.” Microsoft says that the audio capabilities in Windows allowed the developer to create the app in just 15 days. edjing will be available later this week.

Next is Great British Chefs, the UK’s leading recipe site. Their app for Windows 8 is a beautiful way to access all of their great recipes from 28 of the UK’s finest chefs. The app contains gorgeous photos of the food, tips and hints, and even instructional videos. It’s everything you need to create a great meal. Great British Chefs is available now for free.


Tesco Groceries is the next Windows 8 app to launch. Like Great Britich Chefs, this app is geared towards the UK. Tesco is the UK’s largest retailer, and the app aims to bring that experience to customer fingertips.┬áTesco worked closely with Microsoft to ensure that they could offer the best online shopping experience on the platform. Tesco Groceries is available for free in the Windows Store now.

time out

Next up is Time Out. No, this is not a child discipline app. Time Out is a media group that produces websites, magazines, travel guides, and apps for tourists around the world. Time Out is launching with apps for Barcelona, London, Los Angeles, New York, and Paris. It’s a great companion for the world traveler. Time Out is available now for free.


VEVO has finally launched a Windows 8 app. Now Windows 8 users get access to the massive collection of over 75,000 HD music videos, as well as live concerts from around the world. Search for your favorite artists, or just browse and discover new music. The VEVO app puts music at your fingertips. Don’t just listen to your music, watch it with VEVO. Available now for free.


Vyclone is next up. This unique social video service brings together multiple views of a shared moment. With Vyclone you can easily capture video with your friends, and then bring all the videos together to create a single moment. It’s perfect for occasions that everyone takes videos with their phones, like birthdays or weddings. Vyclone is available now for free in the Windows Store.


Last but now least is Where’s My Mickey? This is a new puzzler from Disney that plays similarly to Where’s My Water? Your goal is to help Mickey collect water. There are many weather mechanics and funny animations that go along with solving the puzzles. Where’s My Mickey? will be available later this week for $4.99 in the Windows Store. It’s another great game for Windows 8.
