Official Facebook app gets updated with overhauled UI

Microsoft has been working closely with Facebook to improve their Windows Phone app. A couple of months ago they released Facebook Beta with a completely redesigned UI and feature set. Windows Phone users have been using it and providing feedback ever since, and now it’s ready to lose the beta tag.

Version 5.0 of the Facebook app  brings the new design and features from the beta version. Gone is the panorama Metro layout in place for a flat version of the Android UI.  If you’ve ever used Facebook for Android or iOS you’ll feel right at home. Navigation is done through a pane that can be accessed by swiping to the left, and with a swipe to the right you see friends to message.

The good thing about this new app is that even though it ditches the Metro design it’s for a good reason. With the new app we have parity with the Android and iOS versions. Everything that they can do we can do. Check out our video below to see the app in action.

I liked the older look, but this one seems so much more full-featured. Awesome job!
