Nokia Lumia devices to receive Bluetooth 4.0 update for fitness devices and accessories

If you like fitness gadgets or accessories you’ve probably noticed that Windows Phone doesn’t work with many Bluetooth devices. That’s because none of the current Windows Phone devices support Bluetooth 4.0, a common standard used by devices such as the Fitbit Flex. According to The Verge, Nokia is planning to release an update for Lumia devices that will support Bluetooth 4.0.

The update will include low energy Bluetooth support for fitness devices and accessories that Nokia is planning to release in the future. Most Nokia devices have Bluetooth 4.0 functionality built-in, but a software update is required to enable it. The devices likely to receive the update are the Lumia 920, 820, 720, 620, and 520. This feature will be included in the Amber update slated to arrive in the coming weeks.
