Ahead of the launch of the Xbox One Microsoft has decided to rebrand the Xbox Live Marketplace. The new name is “Games Store,” which fits right in with the Windows Store and Windows Phone Store. The Games Store now sits along side the Music Store and Video Store on Xbox consoles.
Originally the Xbox Live Marketplace included music and videos, but now with separate stores for those things this new name clarifies what’s sold inside. The term “Marketplace” was once very popular at Microsoft, but now they have removed it from almost everywhere. We certainly like the more straight forward approach to naming. Now, if you’ll excuse us, we’re going to go download some games from the Games Store.
