Sony creates a flipping display Windows 8 hybrid with magnets

We’ve seen a lot of crazy designs when it comes to Windows 8 devices. Manufacturers have decided that a plain laptop just isn’t cutting it anymore. Now we have detachable keyboards, giant hinges, rotating displays, flipping displays, and now…magnets. Sony showed off their new VAIO Fit Multi-flip at IFA today, and it is crazy cool.

At first glance the device looks like a standard ultrabook, but when you close it there is a long horizontal “crease” across the back of the display. You can flip the display on that crease 180-degrees until it snaps into place with a magnet. The motion turns your laptop into a tablet, and subsequently impresses all your friends.

The specs for the Multi-flip include 13 and 15-inch models. 1920×1080 or 2880×1620 resolution, and we can expect Intel processors on board. Sony has a pretty nifty trick up their sleeves with this laptop. Be sure to check out the video below to see it in action.
