Nokia Lumia 1520 phablet rumored to launch September 26th

The Lumia 1520 has shown its face a lot lately, but we’ve yet to get a solid release date. Until now. The infamous Twitter leaker @evleaks has once again revealed some information on the Lumia 1520, which he leaked a press render of last week. According to him the phone will launch on September 26th.

The Lumia 1520 is a phone full of firsts. First phablet, first 1080p display, and first quad-core processor. Windows Phone users have been craving these features. In 15 days we will finally be able to end that craving. @evleaks has an almost impeccable track record, so you might as well mark your calendar on September 26th. Take the day off from work and line-up at your local AT&T store.

Now that the release date is so close are you saving an upgrade to get this phone? Are you one of the people who has been craving a phablet? I’m not personally a fan of 6-inch phones, but 1080p, quad-core, and 20MP camera sounds pretty darn nice.

Is that launch or release? I mean just announcing it could mean there’s another 2 month wait possibly to actually hold it and treat it like your “good kid”

I can’t imagine a 6″ phone actually would work well for me but the feature set of the phone makes it so enticing. After having used the iPhone 4S, Lumia 920, Nexus 4, and now HTC 8X I’m starting to appreciate the extra screen real estate more than I once did.
Whether or not this device is a viable option for me really comes down to the heft. If it weights even a little more than a Samsung Note 2 it would eliminate it from my list though. At 6″ I can forgive 185ish grams but the Lumia 920 @ 4.5″ that weight was just too much.
Since my first smartphone to today my computing needs have definitely moved from the desktop (except for gaming) to a tablet (Surface) and smartphone (8X) as my primary methods of accessing documents, web, and media. So the idea of an oversized phone isn’t so crazy now. Even if I do look like I’m holding up a tablet whist talking on it.
