Nokia Lumia 1520 will have 20MP camera and giant battery

1520 leak

At this point we know almost everything about the Nokia Lumia 1520 phablet, but there is one spec we keep glazing over: the camera. Every time we mention the camera we use the same quote from when we first heard about the device. “It will have a ‘no less than 20MP’ camera.” Today @evleaks has finally given us some confirmation on the camera specs.

He tweets “Bandit has a 20MP PureView camera.” So while it seemed Nokia may be leaving the door open to go higher than 20MP, they decided to keep it simple. “Bandit,” by the way, is the codename Nokia is using for the Lumia 1520. The 20MP camera will operate similarly to the Lumia 1020. It will take a 16MP and a 5MP photo simultaneously.

The other spec we haven’t heard anything about is the battery. The latest rumor suggests Nokia will be using a giant 3400 mAh battery. It’s common to have such a large battery in such a large phone. As we saw in our size comparisons, the 1520 has plenty of room for battery. Now that those two specs are out-of-the-way, let’s recap what we know so far:

  • 6-inch display
  • 1080p resolution
  • Quad-core processor
  • 20MP camera
  • 3400 mAh battery
  • Windows Phone 8 GDR3

Where do I sign up? We are expecting an announcement for this device later this month. You should probably start looking for sales on tents now. It’s never to early to plan your in-line camp-out.
