Nokia ‘Amber’ update rolling out now for the AT&T Lumia 920

amber update

Nearly two months ago GDR2/Amber started rolling out to Windows Phone 8 devices around the world. One device has been painfully left out all this time. The Lumia 920, for whatever reason, has not been updated. Until today. AT&T has finally begun rolling out the Amber update for Lumia 920 users, and any other Windows Phone 8 device without it.

The Amber update adds a number of important new features. The most notable being Nokia’s Pro Camera app, Glance screen, flip-to-silence, double-tap-wake, and CalDAV and CardDAV integration for Google services. It’s still unclear why this update was delayed for almost two months. Our AT&T HTC 8X has had GDR2 since early August.

Hopefully AT&T does better with the upcoming GDR3/Bittersweet Shimmer update. AT&T still has a majority of the Windows Phone devices, and therefore Windows Phone users, so it’s important for them to be quick in these situations. Go to Settings>Phone Update>Check for Update to see if it’s available for you.
