Yesterday Nokia released a new app called Glace Background Beta. This app works in combination with the existing Glance scree feature found on newer Nokia Lumia phones. Glance screen allows users to display the time and certain notifications on the screen while the phone is idle. Glance Background takes this to the next level and adds a photo.
Glance Background allows users to choose photos to be displayed behind the time on the Glance screen. As you can see in the photo above, we added the WinSource logo to the Glance screen. With the app you can go as simple or elaborate as you want, but we have to warn you that high-resolution photos don’t look great.
The Glance screen uses a low power setting to display information while the phone is idle. This is the reason why when you try to use a high res photo in Glance background it doesn’t look great. The colors are messed up and it’s extremely pixelated. But that’s a good thing, because it saves your battery life. We recommend using simple photos with back backgrounds.
