Lenovo unveils the Miix 2, a 8-inch Windows 8 tablet for $299

Microsoft added support for 7 and 8-inch displays in Windows 8.1, but not many manufacturers have taken advantage of it. Lenovo teased their 8-inch tablet back at Computex, and today they have officially announced it. The Miix 2 is Lenovo’s first 8-inch Windows tablet, and besides the odd name it seems to be a winner.

The Miix 2 has a Intel Bay Trail processor, so yes, it does run full Windows 8 Pro. The display runs at 1280×800 resolution, it has 2GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, 5MP camera, and it’s only 8.35mm thick. The best part about the Miix 2, besides running full Windows, is the price. The 32GB version is just $299 and a 64GB version will cost $349.

A stylus and cover will also launch for around $20. There is no word on when the device will be available to purchase. We’re liking these 8-inch tablets, and we can’t wait to try one. 10-inch tablets are a little awkward to use, but 7 and 8-inch tablets are just right.

Weird. The Windows button is on the side. Looks like a cool tablet, though. I am still looking into small Windows 8 tablets, so I’ll go check this one out.
