Nokia Refocus turns your Lumia phone into a Lytro camera

Nokia loves their photography apps. One of the best things about having a Lumia is all of the great camera software that comes with it. The newest addition to their camera apps is a handy little app called “Refocus.” This new app turns your Lumia phone into a Lytro camera.

The Lytro is a camera that takes photo by capturing all possible light in a situation. This allows users to choose which part of the photo should be in focus after the photo has been taken. Nokia Refocus essentially does the same thing. Since Nokia can’t have this jutting out the back of every phone they can’t capture all light, so instead the app takes between 2-8 photos at a time.

After that it’s simply a matter of taping on whatever area of the photo you want to have in focus. There is also a “color pop” option that will make only the spot you tap show up in color. Perhaps the coolest thing about Refocus is that the photos can be shared and further edited by anyone, even if the photo is shared on Facebook. Pretty cool.

Refocus is available on the Lumia 2520, 1520, and 1320. Later this year it will come to other Lumia devices with PureView cameras.
