US Justice Department approves Microsoft’s Nokia deal

no nokia name

As expected, the US Department of Justice and Federal Trade Commission have approved Microsoft’s $7.2 billion acquisition of Nokia’s hardware division. This comes after Nokia’s shareholders also approved of the deal. Microsoft now just needs EU approval before the deal can be officially complete. The EU is also expected to be on board.

This deal will allow Microsoft to have complete control over Nokia’s devices and services unit. The “Lumia” and “Asha” names are now properties of Microsoft. We still don’t know exactly how Microsoft and Nokia will merge together, but we can imagine much closer work in regards to Windows Phone and Windows devices. Our only wish is that Microsoft keeps the Lumia name.
