Rowi shuts down development for Windows Phone and Windows 8 apps

The once extremely popular Twitter app for Windows Phone and Windows 8 is shutting down development. Rowi reached the user limit that Twitter imposes on 3rd-party apps, and therefore they have been forced to remove the app from the Store. It’s a sad day for one of the original hit apps on the platform.

The real villain in this situation is Twitter. Their user limit for 3rd-party apps handcuffs all the great developers that helped make Twitter what it is today. Rowi has always been a better app than the official Twitter app. If you are currently using Rowi for Windows Phone or Windows 8 you will continue to be able to use it, but there will be no future updates.
