PSA: Target admits to nearly 40 million credit cards being hacked following Black Friday

Did you cash in on any sweet deals from Target on Black Friday? Your credit or debt card may be at risk. Target has confirmed that up to 40 million card accounts may have been affected between November 27th and December 15th. This is due to a hack that allows the crooks to create counterfeit cards with your information.

Hackers stole “track data” from Target that allows them to create counterfeit cards by encoding information via the magnetic strip. Basically they can clone your credit or debit card with the stolen information. If you bought anything from Target between those dates it would be smart to keep an eye on your account activity.
