If you’re a Fitbit user we have some very good news for you. Over the weekend Fitbit put up a new job listing on Linkedin. Usually we wouldn’t care about this, but the job is listed as “Product Manager – Windows Mobile.” We’ll forgive Fitbit for their use of Windows Mobile as this clearly means they are ready to tackle Windows Phone.

The job post says “we’re hiring someone to product manage the Fitbit apps for Windows Phone and Windows 8.” One of the duties listed for the role is “manage the development and launch of the Fitbit app for Windows Phone.” It would seem that an official Fitbit app for Windows Phone has been confirmed. Since this job is for a product manager, not a developer, the app could already be near completion.

The Lumia Black update has been enabling Bluetooth 4.0 on Lumia hardware. This is important because Fitbit, and many other wearable devices, require Bluetooth 4.0 to sync without killing battery life. The other piece that Fitbit needs is the Bluetooth 4.0 SDK, which is currently available to a few firms. Soon it will be finalized and available to all. These two factors are important to Fitbit and any other wearable device that wants to communicate with a Windows Phone.
