Sony rumored to release a Windows Phone device in 2014

The last time we talked about Sony and Windows Phone in the same breath it was way back in 2012. At the time┬áSony CVP of Sales & Marketing said “we have a good relationship with Microsoft and we are watching the development of Windows Phone closely. If it succeeds, we will not be caught off guard.” It’s been over a year now, and it looks like Sony is ready to jump in.

The Information is reporting that┬áSony is considering launching a Winds Phone sometime in 2014. This would mark the first time Sony branches off from Android. It would also create a funny situation in which people could play Xbox Live games on a Sony device. In order for this to happen it’s very likely that Microsoft would remove the licensing fee currently on Windows Phone, as has been rumored in the past.

Do you want a Sony Windows Phone device? Do you think they will ever build something that has access to Xbox games? It’s always good to see new phones from OEMs not named “Nokia,” and we hope Sony is one of them.
