Alan Mulally confirms he will not leave Ford for Microsoft CEO position

The front-runner on many people’s list for Microsoft next CEO was Alan Mullaly from Ford. Notice that sentence was in past-tense. Earlier today Mulally officially took his name off the list and confirmed that he will be staying at Ford. Mulally says¬†“I would like to end the Microsoft speculation because I have no other plans to do anything other than serve Ford.”

It’s interesting to note that Mulally was asked about the position several times in the past few months and never gave a definite answer until now. That means he likely spoke with Microsoft and either they didn’t offer him the job or he declined. The top remaining candidates include¬†Satya Nadella, Tony Bates, and Stephen Elop. Microsoft will name a CEO sometime soon.
