The next major app to be coming to Windows Phone will be here just in time for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. NBC, the official broadcaster of the Olympics, will be releasing their LiveExtra sports app before the games begin next month. This information was discovered when a Windows Phone user did some Twitter sleuthing.

The NBC Sports LiveExtra Twitter account posted a photo of all the devices they have for development testing. One user noticed a bright yellow Lumia-looking device. After he tweeted at them he was told ““Windows phone users will have themselves a Live Extra app in time for the @Sochi2014 Games and forever onwards after!” They also said the app will be available for Windows 8.1 devices.

So, what is LiveExtra? The app allows you to livestream all of NBC’s sports broadcasts, such as the NHL, NFL, and of course the upcoming Olympics. It’s a must-have for any sports fan, and it will make following the Olympics much easier. Now all we have to do is wait. The Winter Olympics begin on February 7th.
