Windows 8.1 update 1 scheduled for release on March 11th

The next update for Windows 8.1 is the appropriately named “Update 1.” Recently a few screenshots from Update 1 were leaked and they revealed some nice changes. Most notably the ability to pin Modern apps to the desktop task bar, which could eventually lead to running Modern apps on the desktop.

Once we start seeing cool features the next question is always “when will it come?” The same man who leaked the screenshots is now saying that Update 1 will be released on March 11th, the same day as Titanfall for Xbox One. Mary Jo Foley has also confirmed these rumors to be accurate.

Microsoft has been rumored to bring back the Start Menu in this update, but so far nothing has confirmed that. All we have now is a few screenshots to go off of. What would you like to see in Update 1? Are you for or against the Start Menu? Let us know below!

By all means, the start menu should be included. This is primarily important for those who don’t have the touchscreen option.

I honestly haven’t missed the start menu and I have a desktop. Windows key and then start typing what you want – easy peasy.
