Back in November we wrote about Grand Theft Auto San Andreas for Android, iOS, and Windows Phone. Rockstar surprised us with the announcement, but we were still hesitant to celebrate until it was actually released. About a month ago the game finally launched…for Android and iOS. Today Rockstar has finally released GTA: San Andreas for Windows Phone.
What is it?
San Andreas was one of the best games around before Grand Theft Auto V arrived and amazed everyone. GTA: SA will encompass Los Santos, San Fierro, and Las Venturas. For the mobile game they have remastered the graphics with much more detail. Since this is a mobile game there will be new touch controls and contextual control options. Lastly, Rockstar has made the checkpoint system a little easier for mobile.
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas features:
- Remastered, high-resolution graphics built specifically for mobile including lighting enhancements, an enriched color palette and improved character models.
- Dual analog stick controls for full camera and movement control.
- Three different control schemes and customizable controls with contextual options to display buttons only when you need them.
- Tailor your visual experience with adjustable graphic settings
Does it work on my phone?
Here’s where things get tricky. The Windows Phone Store description for the game clearly states “PLEASE NOTE: Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is only supported on the following devices: Nokia Lumia: 1520, 1320, 822, 820, 810, HTC: 8XT.” That’s weird because if it can run on something like the 820 it should certainly work on the 920 or 1020. Turns out it does.
We can confirm that it works on the Lumia 925, and others have confirmed it works on practically any device with 1GB of RAM or more. Rockstar probably just did not test on those devices. If you have a phone that meets those requirements you can download GTA San Adreas below for $6.99.
