Top Windows Phone apps for the Winter Olympics

Later tonight the 22nd Winter Olympics will kick off with the opening ceremony from Sochi, Russia. Over the next couple of weeks there will be hundreds of athletes competing in events at all hours of the day. It can be very hard to keep track of everything going on at the Olympics, especially when the time zones are so different. Luckily there are several Windows Phone apps to help you.

  • Sochi 2014 Guide is from the official organizing committee. This app shows the event schedules and news. You can even buy tickets if you happen to be in Sochi. This app is free for WP8.
  • Sochi 2014 Results is the companion app to Sochi Guide. With this app you can see who is winning medals in each event. it also has information for every olympic athlete. This app is free for WP8.
  • NBC Sports Live Extra has live video streams from the Olympics. You can also watch video from events you missed and see what is coming up next. A cable or satellite subscription is required. This app is free for WP8.
  • Last, but not least, is Bing Sports. Microsoft has added a special section to the app for keeping up with the Winter Olympics. This app is great for reading stories and checking out photos from the games. This app is free for WP8.
