Microsoft launches new OneDrive branding and offers free storage

OneDrive

Just a few weeks ago Microsoft unveiled their new name for SkyDrive. Today their new “OneDrive” branding is finally being rolled out to the web and all mobile apps. Existing SkyDrive users will just notice a new logo and some introductory material. Microsoft is also using this time to introduce a new way to earn storage.

You can now earn 500MB of storage for every new user referral. The friend you refer will also get the extra free storage. You can refer up to 10 friends for a total of 5GB. If you still want more free storage you can earn 3GB by enabling auto photo upload in the Android, iOS, and Windows Phone apps. Microsoft also continues to offer 7GB of free storage for signing up. Add all of that together and you can be sitting pretty with 15GB of free storage.

If you use SkyDrive on the web or with a mobile app you should be seeing an update today. Visit preview.onedrive.com to see the new update on the web, and check your faorite app store for the app update. Microsoft has just begun rolling all of this out, so it might not be available to everyone yet. Hang tight.
