Microsoft Surface 2 with LTE start arriving at stores, will be $679

The long-awaited arrival for the Surface 2 with LTE is very close. Earlier today Microsoft Stores started getting stock of the device for AT&T. Of course, this is the device that Microsoft promised with the launch of the regular Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2. It has taken a long time for these devices to start showing up, but we’re still glad to see it.

The photo below shows a Surface 2 retail package with some details printed on the edge. It clearly says “64 GB Tablet (AT&T 4G LTE).” It also says the same thing on the back of the packaging.┬áSo what will this tablet cost you? The 64GB model with LTE will set you back $679. That is $130 more than the same version without LTE. It’s not clear if AT&T will offer a lower subsidized price with a contract. At this price it is much more expensive than the Lumia 2520 from AT&T, also with LTE.

With the Surface 2 Microsoft increased CPU speed dramatically. Anyone that has used a Surface RT will know how much of a difference that should make. The display is another huge upgrade: it is a full 1080p HD display. The kickstand is adjustable, just like on Surface Pro 2. In the past the Surface was about trade-offs, but not this model. Surface 2 runs Windows RT 8.1. We’ll let you know when the LTE model is official.
