Oops: Windows Phone 8.1 momentarily shows up on Microsoft’s website

Windows Phone 8.1 is getting very close. We’ve seen dozens of leaks in photos and videos the last few months. Lately we’ve seen some semi-confirmations from Microsoft themselves. Earlier this week the Windows Phone Store started listing “Windows Phone 8.1” as a compatible OS for apps. More recently they accidentally listed it on their main website. Oops.

As you can see in the photo above, a new tab for “Windows Phone 8.1” was added to the main page. If you visit the page now the tabs are gone, but for a while it had tabs for both Windows Phone 8 and 8.1. Clicking the Windows Phone 8.1 tab directed to an error page. We can assume that this tab will eventually be filled with information on new features like Cortana and Action Center. This will be a place where people can learn more about Windows Phone 8.1.

This is a very exciting time to be a Windows Phone user. How excited are you about Windows Phone 8.1?
