We are very close to the release of Windows Phone 8.1. Many, many details have leaked over the last few weeks. Today we have yet another leak, but this one is different from the others. In the past we have seen Windows Phone 8.1 running on a current device, but now we can see it running on the Lumia 630. This is the first time we’ve seen the new OS running on an unreleased phone.
The device in the video is a Nokia Lumia 630 developer device. This is the low-end device with virtual buttons that we have seen leaked by @evleaks. It’s just an affordable device to get Windows Phone 8.1 in the hands of developers. Other than the virtual buttons there isn’t much interesting about this phone. The software, however, is the real story.
Some of the Windows Phone 8.1 features shown off in the video include the action center, quick settings, Nokia Camera, dialer, podcasts app, FM radio, and more. A lot of this stuff has been leaked already with screenshots, but it’s nice to see it in action on a new device. There should be much more to see next week. In the meantime, we will try to contain out excitement.
