Phones vs Tablets vs Laptops vs Desktops?

What percentage of time are you on each device? I own a couple tablets but find that I NEVER use them.

I would ALWAYS be on my laptop, except I made the mistake of being convinced into a Macbook Air. I freaking hate it. Wish I got a Toshiba with Windows. BLAH. So for that reason I spend much more time on my desktop computer. When I'm not on that I'm always on my phone.

I will say that I recently bought a Kindle Fire and actually do enjoy that. The size and price were just right and I've really enjoyed it. I'm just curious how other people's lifestyles or priorities might lead to a very different use scenario?

I'm usually on my laptop and my phone. That's because I don't have a tablet or desktop lol. I'm waiting for Windows 8 Tablets to come out and then I'll revisit this question!

I spend most of my time between my gaming/production desktop and my phone. I have a laptop to take to school/work but its basically just for easy photoshop stuff and websurfing. Have no need for a tablet but still find myself wanting one just to play with when the laptop is too big of a hassle to take with and I want something larger than a phone.

I own all of them. I use desktop most of the time at home. But when hanging out on the couch or in bed i use my phone or tablet. Laptop is what I take on vacations.

Recently bought a tablet, and I haven't used the laptop since. For vacations where I need to do freelance stuff, It will come in handy, but that basically makes it a portable desktop instead of a laptop.

I'm a university student, and I've found that between a mobile device like a good smartphone and my 27" imac at home at my standing workstation, there's nothing more I need. I had an iPad2 for a while but it never left my apartment and was really only used to consume media or browse reddit. So I sold the ipad and pre-ordered a lumia 900. I love technology, but I hate having too many devices because they are so distracting from getting outside and being active. I also just picked up a Nook simple touch that I'll bring everywhere for reading and such....excited to get that thing rooted so I can read pdfs for class.

I have a smartphone and a laptop. No tablet. I am always on my phone. In fact, if I didn't need my computer for MS Word for college, then I would hardly ever use it. My smartphone does just about everything.

Can I ask why you hate your Macbook? I'd gladly take it off your hands, free of charge!
I have an HP Touchpad and a Dell Inspiron 1440, but for writing I like the laptop. Browsing and reading tweets feels way better on a tablet. I really do fall into the notion that "tablets are consumption devices."

Especially a Windows 8 tablet that docked to use desktop Windows. I swear to God, that would be an amazing experience. It would be like the Transformer Prime with software that was built around the premise of a tablet/laptop hybrid.

My time is split pretty evenly across my devices, depending on what I'm doing. I have a gaming rig that I use to play games and podcast with, while I mainly use my laptop for work related stuff. When I'm on the couch and just want to chill for a bit, I use my tablet and I use my phone most when I'm out and about.

I feel as if all tablets were built especially for RSS feed reading!

Yep! That's usually what I'm doing on the tablet. A combination of feedly and reddit is fun with the new tablet update have really turned it into a consumption device for me. But that's fine, since I use the desktop to produce all manner of content.

My time is spent on my gaming notebook the most. I use my phone whenever I'm out and about, since my laptop's battery barely lasts me 2 and a half hours.

My Dell's battery lasts exactly 0 mins unplugged. I hate moving while I gave my computer, because then I lose all my work. Sigh, such first world problems...

Is it an Inspiron? My mother's Inspiron can't hold a charge and she's tried replacing the battery and everything.

Yep! All of my family have Dell computers, and 5/6 have failed batteries. It's times like these that I wish I had a Macbook, if only for the outstanding battery life and hardware longevity. Sometimes, first world problems are the toughest of problems

I'd agree that my time is spent pretty evenly, I have a quad-core desktop, triple-core notebook, a netbook, an HP TouchPad (with ICS) and a Windows Phone. All of them have their specific uses. Though honestly the netbook has been re-purposed as a glorified bathroom browser.

I've had my tablet for about a week now, and it's been interesting how much more I'm on a device with it. Used to be I would half-heartedly use the phone while at a TV/game-console. But now the tablet is out full time. Used to have the laptop weighing down my backpack at school/work... now it's light and the tablet is used much more than I ever bothered with the laptop.

It's mainly a consumption device, but I've also been using it to write up drafts of stuff I need to write later. To read and highlight docs and ebooks. To do sketches of projects I then port into photoshop/illustrator for more detailed work. Maybe its just bc it is new and I want excuses to use it or maybe it really is a device of the gaps left by other things.

I feel the same way, though. I used to leave my computer open so I could chat and maybe browse reddit or other sites while I watch TV and such, but now once I'm done with work I usually close the laptop and use the tablet exclusively. The only real niggle that I have about it is that Google Talk doesn't have a share option for links and such, so if you're talking with friends and want to share a link, it's a pain in the ass to have to open another app to copy the link instead of pasting it directly to them.

Do you have an iPad or an Android tablet?
