My first surface complaint - HALF the space on the 32GB version is the OS and core apps.

Ok so last night I said screw it and took a chance on MS, and bought a surface at the event in NYC. It's pretty cool but hard to check out with all the spotty wifi - my mifi doesn't seem to like me today

I'll tell you this though - I bought the 32GB version thinking that would be just fine - before I realized the OS and office trial (that I can't seem to easily remove?) take up 16GB!

Soooooooo... going to return it today for the 64GB one.

Also, I'm not thrilled I can't seem to get sat imagery on the Maps app. There are a few other things I've noted but I can't tell if it's a problem with the mifi or what.

Anyway, I do hope to get some video, etc, posted later!

There's no expandable storage? That seems a bit excessive for an OS. Even the full desktop installation shouldn't be that much. More and more I'm just wanting to wait on options from other OEMs.

At least there is a SD card slot and full USB slot for more storage!

I don't know, something about me wants to keep that open for removable storage rather than what I would envision needing that space for... apps, etc.

If you had the 32GB version how would you use it? Save the onboard memory for apps/games and then any type of media, move it over to the SD card? The SD card is pretty much hidden so if you have a 32GB SD card you can essentially have a slower moving version of the 64GB unit.

I'm going to return the 32GB version for the 64GB version since it's only $100 extra. Wish I knew the OS took up so much space before buying it. Guess I need to read WinSource more often!

The Windows folder takes up approx 7.2gb. Beyond that, my profile is approx 800mb now.
I've heard that it takes up approx. 10gb. Don't forget how the windows file system reads drives, you won't get the full amount.

Honestly, if you go buy a 64gb SD card, it'll be cheaper than getting the 64gb Surface and you can change it out when full.
