Some menus won't work in Surface Internet Explorer

I'm using a Surface Pro and have noticed that some menus won't work properly. One example is in the Facebook/Zynga Game Mafia Wars. A "Travel" pull down menu won't stay open so that a selection can be made. In the desktop Windows 8/Internet Explorer it works as expected. Any idea as to why some pull down menus won't stay open in Surface IE?

Wow, that's weird.

Has anyone else noticed it?

No but I have that issue with the soft keyboard when online in IE when clicking a field to type in. I have to use the side menu "keyboard" button to make it stay up..

This isn't a fault of IE or Win8 as opposed to the functionality of the code behind said menu's. It's common across any website that used a "mouse over" or hover state to show menu's. Basically, the functionality is not designed for touch.

This is one of many "faults" that forced mobile sites to be developed. ESPN is one that used to drive me nuts, but I think they've since changed it.
