    GoodNews/Bad News

The ATT website says they are completely out of stock in the matte black Lumia 900. Good, because it means they're selling better than expected, bad because it means they will be losing some sales. But that strikes me as very good news over all.

    Go windows phone, go!

I would see it as good news, people who want it can always go to Amazon or in store as well!

I really wonder what the initial shipment was. Reports were that some stores only got like 5-10 in for the launch last Sunday (Monday.) While I'm glad to see strong sales, there may simply be a small number out there. I hope not!

Nokia's earnings announcement will be on the 19th, Thursday, so if Nokia sold a crazy amount of Lumias, it may share some numbers to help with the sting of the rest of the news.

Is that earnings report for this current quarter? AT&T said the Lumia is doing better than expected, but they didn't give a concrete number. I'm on the edge of my seat...

It will be for Q1, but companies often address stuff in Q2 if they so choose... I'd be surprised if they don't say anything about Lumias, but it may simply be "sales are off to a great start."

Yeah, I would hold off until there's been a good month or two of sales before you start revealing info. Good prediction, sabonis!

It'll be interesting to see their Q1 results, Nokia already said they pushed 2 Million Lumia's which is a great start, but that was before US & Canada i believe

I don't know how their 800 promotion in Europe and other places went, but that's pretty impressive. They did say it was a little bit lower than expected, but the Lumia 800 may still be selling well. I'm trying to find a link to back me up but I can't find it!

Well it might be a bit lower than expected, however, AT&T exec says Lumia 900 has exceeded expectations; Apple rejects claims of e-book collusion - FierceWireless AT&T executives says the lumia 900 has exceeded expectations

Thanks for the link, after a few click throughs I found this disappointing quote:
And it’s only going to get worse in Q2 2012. Nokia projects an equal or worse second quarter citing the very same competitive factors. In a conference call right after the announcement, Elop explained that Android is expanding quicker than expected in the ultra low end, and white box Chinese manufacturers are pushing Nokia in developing markets. At the same time, the Finns don't have a high-end touchscreen feature phone, a segment dominated by phones like the Samsung Star and that's another issue the company recognizes.
Hopefully the 610 comes to Nokia's aid, but I don't know if one model will be able to fight off the low the Android phones the article mentions. The Lumia may not make a difference to Nokia's solvency, but it may still help Microsoft and Nokia in the long run

I thought that was announced just after the launch, so that all those who had preorders or were waiting for it had a chance to pick it up.

If you can find a link for this info, I'd greatly appreciate it. I've been looking but I can't seem to find where I read the info

Also, the 2 million number may be sold to retailers, not actually sold through to customers.

Being vague is the hallmark of any large company, unless you really want to boast on great sales coughapplecough

In the press release I posted above it states "sold," not "shipped."

I've always taken that to mean in the hands of customers, like in this article, although it's talking about video games, not phones specifically.

I agree, shipped would indicated "shipped to stores" not "shipped to consumers." Good analysis!
