Now that Windows 8 has been out a bit and people have been browsing the Windows Store, I think it would be a good idea to let each other know which apps are great and which apps to avoid.

  • Reddit to Go! - This is the most comprehensive reddit app that I've seen. It even includes the sidebar that so many reddit apps seem to forget exists. The navigation bar is a little rough around the edges, but I found browsing reddit on it is super fun and can imagine it would be great on a tablet.
  • Chat - This app lets you talk over the Jabber protocol, which includes Facebook and GTalk. It's pretty feature bare at the moment, but it has a nice design and when it's snapped in you can continue to work and chat at the same time.
  • MetroTwit - The original desktop MetroTwit for Windows 7 was great and so is MetroTwit for Windows 8. A few design decisions could be ironed out, but since Windows 8 is in its infancy, I expect things will get better.
  • Storm - I like this weather app better than the default because it has neat things like a temperature, precipitation, and wind chill map that show you what's going on around the world.


Of course, the shopping apps like ebay and Newegg are pretty great and Netflix's Windows 8 app is hands down the best mobile app available.
