There are some options. I got one for my samsung focus from amazon. It will vary by phone manufacturer though.

Nice. I know they can be kind of expensive for what they are, but extended batteries are really nice. I had one for my captivate but I stopped using it because it doubled the size of my phone. Some are designed well, some aren't.

It's kind of annoying that phone manufacturer's brag about having the thinnest design ever and then the battery life sucks. They should just package the darn phones a little thicker and have great battery life. The world would be better because of it.

I mean really, besides sexiness, making a phone a little thicker isn't really noticeable in terms of use and pocketability.

I have an HTC Trophy and one of my co-workers just got one for his. Didn't add a lot of bulk and he got 10 solid hours from it.

I have notice more people going with external battery packs and charging/connecting when needed.

No, they are non-removable. The 800 had some battery issues but recent software updates have fixed them, and the 900 has good battery life, even with LTE.

I bought these for my Samsung Focus, unlike some of the extended ones they fit flush in the phone rather than requiring an expanded back. They're 1800mAh rather than the 1500mAH, I'd highly recommend them.

I don't own the Focus, is the battery life that bad to require an expanded battery?

Not really, but I've had the phone for almost a year and a half and daily charging has taken it's toll. Recently the back of my phone started popping off and I realized that my stock battery was expanding, apparently a common issue with well-used batteries.

My Focus battery is pretty bad, how drastic was the improvement from the extended battery?

Yeah, about the back of the battery popping off, I recently saw pictures on reddit of someone's iPhone 3GS where the whole back cracked open because the battery was expanding. When they took it out, it looked like someone had filled the battery with water. Hoping that doesn't happen to my Lumia.

I don't think that could happen, the unibody case is pretty solid!

I have to wonder if people experiencing these battery problems live in a certain climate that could cause the batteries to inflate like that. Something about the humidity or such. Might be a neat idea for a survey if you could find enough people who have had battery problems to participate.

Sounds like a good idea! You could always go to r/ samplesize for surveying! I'm going to use it when I write an editorial about piracy and Spotify

I wasn't even aware that subreddit existed. Thanks for the info. I might consider doing something like this for WinSource, even though it's on other phones. I can always tie it back into Windows Phones somehow.

It's like you're playing Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon, except Kevin Bacon is a mobile OS who looks pretty damn good.
