Hello, Woodstock!

Well, this is interesting. According to The Verge's anonymous sources (I cringe every time I hear those two words together), Microsoft will be unveiling a cross platform service. From The Verge:

The new music service, codenamed Woodstock, will continue Microsoft's shift away from the Zune brand towards the well known Xbox one. Insiders have revealed to us that Woodstock will be a cross-platform play, available to Windows 8, Android, iOS, and Xbox users — playable from a browser

Makes sense as Microsoft is trying to posistion Xbox as a media brand and not a gaming one, but I can't help but feel like this is the end of the road for the Zune. Hardware is done, and soon, the software will live on as a stagnant remnant of 2006's excitement. *SNIFF* It's been fun Zune, let's play this out until Windows 8.

There are some hardcore Zune fans out there who will most likely find a way, maybe by decompiling and recompiling the zune software so you can still use it..or at least that's what i hope they do lol i love the background when music is playing and the Windows 8 doesn't do that, or at least not for me yet. I hope Microsoft keeps the same UI in a sense for it and doesn't go completely off Zune

I'm one of those hardcore Zune fans, but the Windows 8 CP app doesn't do it for me. They must be improving it, because at current chance, it's not very good.

I know eh! I don't like it that much either right now. It's choppy almost for me, feels like i am not using a real player for music and videos. I'm with you on the hardcore fan of Zune, i completely am after i met it a few years back.

Maybe it's just me, but the horizontal scrolling and clunky navigation to get to your music collection make it way less efficient to Zune. Plus the gradient upon Album covers doesn't look nearly as good as the current Zune player. Just my thoughts, hope they fix the problems before launch

Oh i completely agree, i have the same problem, it's pretty ridiculous, they are going the wrong way on this one, they should be pushing Zune further if anything.

For some reason, all of Windows 8's built in apps suck, especially when compared to the Windows Phone versions. It drives me nuts, but I hope they will be better in the end.
