Life is not fair; get used to it. ~ Bill Gates
If they get Apollo running on the 610, it's definitely coming to all the other phones. Plus, this tip supposedly came from MS PR. All these rumors about Apollo upgrades are kind of hurting my head

Finally some more good news! I'm perfectly okay with believing this, even if it is just out of hope
I would sincerely hope that recent handsets would be compatible with an update released in the same year. Android handset manufacturers are awful about this - I have a Samsung Infuse on AT&T and after months and months of "Gingerbread is coming, we promise" I finally just rooted the phone and forgot about official updates. I realize that the loose requirements and deferred update responsibility are inherent to Android's whole platform and method but it is one thing I have always hated about the OS. I would hope that Windows Phone handsets don't follow down that path.
Do you guys think this is for real or the usual "update is coming for you...so please do buy our product and not others" ???

I think MS_Nerd has a better track record than Thurrott if I recall right. Also, MS_Nerd mentioned something about backing up being the holdup... Wasn't Microsoft looking for someone to improve the backup on WP7 a few months ago?

I still firmly believe Tango is the indicator that we will see WP8 on at least 2nd gen handsets. They seem to be able to modify the build config and disable/enable features at will, and it carries over to the marketplace as well. (Apps that can't run on 256mb) While it may not be a full on WP8 experience, I think there will be at least something. It would be against Microsoft who's been very anti-android in their update policy (The HD7 on T-Mobile has gotten 7 updates so far.) to release such a touted device only to be left out months later. That being said, I think Microsoft is going to have to clear this up ...Soon.
Agreed, I do believe something will come to the current devices, even if it isn't the big Apollo build. They could do something akin to the Windows Platform Preview where Vista got certain features of Windows 7. Microsoft is seemingly trying to wait as long as they can before they release Apollo and break the good (or bad, I guess) news to current Windows Phone owners
