Anyone else go to Microsoft's "Behind the tiles"
https://www.ustechsregister.com/BehindTheTiles/
I went and learned some things. I'm a iPhone user wanting to switch, and I was a minority there. I'm guessing about 75% of the people already had Windows Phones. I didn't win any of the big prizes, which included a Lumia 900, and a xbox/kinect bundle.
I did sort of win a "smoked by windows phone" battle. I was able to locate and find directions to a nearby 3-star restaurant, while the MS rep's phone had some issues (I wasn't too clear on what problems she had). The 2nd re-match she won because she had already pinned a movie theater listing to her home screen. I could have done the same had I known all the possible challeneges. :/ As expected, there is a set list of challenges that they perform - they don't make it up on the spot, so their devices are rigged and stacked in their favor. That left a bad impression to me. If you beat them, wasn't there a set prize? Cash? I got a Windows Phone USB speaker...
But besides that negative, I'm still intrigued by the phones, and will definately on my list of options when I become eligable for an upgrade at the end of June. I just wish I could have had more hands-on time. The Bing text search & translation was really cool. To me, I'd pay 10 or so dollars for that app.
