EXCLUSIVE: What's Wrong with that Windows 8 Icon?

    image[4].jpg
Well guys, I've fallen on to bit of a scoop here. In a Building Windows 8 blog post a couple days ago, Microsoft revealed a lot of new info about their upcoming OS: maybe even a bit too much. After releasing the post yesterday, we noticed an unidentified icon (a UII, if you will) sitting in the taskbar. Well, after a quick glance today, we’ve realized that Microsoft has pulled the previous image, expunging the icon in the process. Clearly Microsoft showed something they didn’t want the world to see, and we’re questioning whether or not the icon might have been a representation of Microsoft’s upcoming Outlook program. The icon appears to have a letter coming out from the side. Any conjecture on to what it might be?
(I have a better picture at the link but the "Add Image" button here doesn't appear to be working!

Hmmm, i wonder what that icon is for. I mean it could be for Outlook but i have doubts just because of the icon itself. Microsoft wanted to keep the icon layout for Word, Excel, PPT, Outlook, etc the same for the upcoming release of Office 15

What does outlook do? I know it's email but I've never had any need to use it

At a consumer level, there's not much use for it. Most web-mail clients will handle all of your needs.

Outlook though allows you to set up very complex rules for handling emails, you can manage multiple email addresses in one unified inbox, it has fantastic calendar and contact integration. Mostly companies use it as the front-end for their exchange servers, allowing them to manage their own internal email system, rather than relying on Gmail or Hotmail. Exchange also allows you to share folders, calendars and team inboxes through Outlook. If you want to try out it's basic functionality for free, Windows Live Mail is a free, consumer version of Outlook that does many of the same functions. Download it with Windows Live Essentials.
