Fluoride Intake is Important After Weaning!

Parents should pay attention to the amount of fluoride a baby receives after weaning.  Too much can cause tooth discoloration; too little can cause increased susceptibility to cavities.  Check bottled waters: some have little or no fluoride.  Well water should be checked as well.  Most tap water in this country is properly fluoridated, so it's best if you child receives most of his/her water from the faucet.  Remember this applies to drink mixes made with water too!  If you are unsure about the fluoride content of your water, ask your dentist.

Children also receive fluoride from toothpaste.  Be sure they only use a pea-sized dab (parents should brush their children's teeth until they reach the age of six).  If you have any questions about your child's dental health, ask your dentist.  If you don't have a family dentist, call us at
