A few months ago we brought you the sad news that the developers of MetroTube, Lazyworm Apps, would be discontinuing MetroTube as it could not guarantee the future of the app. Because there is no official support for a YouTube app on Windows Phone, several workarounds had to be used in order to provide access to videos within a specific app. This occasionally lead to bouts of the app not working when Google changed YouTube’s APIs.
It appears today the developers have had a change of heart, as they’ve announced in a blog post that MetroTube is back and will be more glorious than ever. There’s no word on whether or not the resurrection has any involvement with Microsoft or Nokia, but the blog post states that it hopes the return will spur “Google or Microsoft to show us a little more support.”
The app has been submitted to the Marketplace and should begin showing up shortly, so you Lumia 900 users that have been relying on apps like SuperTube and PrimeTube, get your market ready since you have a serious contender to take its place as your favorite YouTube app on the way.
