If you’re as excited about Windows 8 as we are then you’ll be pleased to know that Friday, October 26th is the official launch date for the new OS. Microsoft announced the date today, reiterating that the upgrade fee for those upgrading from previous Windows versions would only be $40. However, those who buy a PC between now and January of 2013 will be eligible for this upgrade for only $15. It looks like Microsoft has finally taken a page out of Apple’s handbook when it comes to OS prices and upgrade fees.
I’m sure many of you are curious when Windows Phone 8 will be announced, but the reality of it is we’re still not sure. It would make sense for Microsoft to launch Windows Phone 8 within the same month as its new offering, so perhaps we’ll see it then. Nokia seems to be tickled pink about something on September 7th, so maybe we’ll know more by then. Stay tuned.
