The news the last few days hasn’t been great for Nokia, but there still might be some good news out there for the Fins. In the last three quarters (Q4 ’11, Q1 ’12, Q2 ’12) Nokia has shipped more Lumia devices worldwide than Apple has shipped iPhone’s in their first three quarters (2007), and Samsung has shipped Android phones in their first three quarters (2009).

Nokia has shipped 6.9 million Lumia smartphones since they started using Windows Phone three quarters ago. Apple shipped only 3.7 million iPhone’s in the first three quarters it was on the market, and Samsung only shipped 1.3 million in their first three quarters with Android. So why is everyone freaking out? The landscape is much different now than it was in 2007 and 2009. It looks like they have a good start, but they need a great start to compete.

Great to hear! I hope Nokia rises again as the number 1 cell phone manufacturer.
