Nokia says the Lumia 920′s super sensitive touchscreen won’t kill the battery

Did you know the Lumia 920 touch screen can be operated with a fork, banana, and even with gloves on? Chances are you’ve seen some of the videos showcasing the sensitive touchscreen on the Lumia 920, and you probably wondered what will happen when that sensitive screen is in your pocket. Will it register touches all day and kill your battery?

Nokia has answered that question with a “no.” They say that the phone will not go active until a “landing event” is registered. What they exactly mean by “landing event” is unknown, but they say they have tested it to make sure the phone does not register accidental touches. I guess we just have to take their word for it.

I think “landing event” probably means it has to register an actual intelligent touch, like swiping up to unlock, before it will start registering other “touches”. At least I hope thats the case otherwise it would be a pain having this phone in your pocket.
