Shortly after the Lumia 900 launched here in the United States, Microsoft saw a bump in its marketshare. That growth seems to have leveled out, as Microsoft’s marketshare dropped from 4% down to 3.6%. This is somewhat understandable, as we sit on the eve of a new iteration of Windows Phone, so savvy users have likely waited to adopt, given the lengthy 2 year contracts that most carriers impose on those who adopt subsidized phones.
The real story here is that RIM continues to hemorrhage marketshare, as it lost nearly 3% in the three-month period. People are flocking away from the aging BlackBerry image and BlackBerry 10 likely won’t save the floundering company. Of course both Android and iOS saw gains as the new iPhone 5 was in heavy speculation during these three months.
