New Comscore data shows users waiting for Windows Phone 8

Shortly after the Lumia 900 launched here in the United States, Microsoft saw a bump in its marketshare. That growth seems to have leveled out, as Microsoft’s marketshare dropped from 4% down to 3.6%. This is somewhat understandable, as we sit on the eve of a new iteration of Windows Phone, so savvy users have likely waited to adopt, given the lengthy 2 year contracts that most carriers impose on those who adopt subsidized phones.

The real story here is that RIM continues to hemorrhage marketshare, as it lost nearly 3% in the three-month period. People are flocking away from the aging BlackBerry image and BlackBerry 10 likely won’t save the floundering company. Of course both Android and iOS saw gains as the new iPhone 5 was in heavy speculation during these three months.

Is that so? I wonder how many are actually waiting? I know I will never choose to go with a Windows Phone on a two year contract. Been there, done that. With At&t having their hand in OS updates and fixes and Microsoft shutting down platforms with customers on it, you stand a better chance letting Android or Apple have that 2 year agreement.

Hey, guess what, AT&T has a hand in updates in every phone. The difference is every Windows Phone on AT&T is running the most recent build of the OS. Can you say that about their Android phones?

WHAT???? Are you even checking out the At&t community website on Windows Phone to see majority of people who have not seen any security updates or fixes to their phones since the beginning of Mango. My phone along with others are still sitting on 7720. You and I both know that is not the most recent build by Microsoft. Talk to me after you have visited the site. Here, I will help you by providing the link for you http://forums.att.com/t5/Windows-Discussion-and-Support/bd-p/WindowsOS People are still sitting with keyboard bugs that are almost a year old.

So people might want to think about purchasing that Lumia 920, Htc 8x, or Samsung Accord. What are you all prepared to do when At&t does not give you the updates and fixes that Microsoft puts out? You all will be just like us a year from now on the community board pissed off about not being able to enjoy your Windows Phone 8.

The Tango update is available for all the WP on AT&T, if people don’t download it there isn’t much they can do about it. And bugs are bugs. Even the most up to date phone is going to have them. Android, iPhone, you name it. If updates are important to you there really isn’t anything better than an iPhone or Windows Phone.

No it is not avaliable for everybody. Check again. The only phone that has gotten it is the the Lumia 900 that came out last after everybody elses phone. Maybe the Samsung Focus, but that is it. People who have the HTC Titan, Titan II and others do not have it yet. While I agree with you that every phones has bugs and updates are slow, Windows Phone continues to be way behind Android and iPhone. At this point, all Microsoft is doing is playing Ketchup. By the time Microsoft gets Windows Phone caught up, the competition has moved onto another level.
