Microsoft officially begins Windows 8 pre-orders for those that want a box and disc

With the official launch of Windows 8 just a couple weeks away Microsoft has officially begin pre-orders. Up for pre-order is the retail packaged version of Windows 8 Pro. You will get the fancy box pictured above as well as the DVD. Pre-orders are being accepted at Amazon, Best Buy, Office Depot, and Microsoft for $69.99.

The box itself is actually made from paper to weigh 41% lighter than previous packages. This move is to make the product more eco-friendly. For those that don’t want the physical box and disc you can wait until the 26th when online downloads of Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant will be available. Waiting for the online download will also save you $30. Which version will you buy?

Definitely grabbing the download version… just wanna wait and see how it deals with gaming and the apps I need for work/freelance stuff. Don’t wanna jump on it at launch and then have to backtrack to Win7.
