Built in Skype functionality for Windows Phone 8 shown off in detail

The current Skype app for Windows Phone devices leaves a lot to be desired. Ever since Microsoft acquired Skype we’ve been waiting for a native experience, and it looks like in Windows Phone 8 we will finally get it. In the video below we get to see 3 full minutes worth of hands-on with the Skype app and functionality in WP8.

Basically, it works like you would expect. Skype is now integrated into the People Hub like Twitter and Facebook. You can launch a Skype call right from your contacts, like you would a normal call. It is also possible to receive Skype calls while the app is not open, and it will wake your phone like a normal call. It looks like this is the Skype app we’ve all been waiting for. What do you think?

Update: video removed from YouTube.

Update 2: Found a new source. This will probably get pulled too.
