Samsung remains committed to Windows 8 and WP8

With the launch of Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 bearing down upon us, it’s nice to hear that launch partners for the new OS are committed to the new ecosystem. Recently Samsung UK vice president of IT, Graham Long said in an interview that the arrival of Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 is an opportunity for Samsung to finally offer a full portfolio to its customers.

“The launch of Windows 8 really provides us with that opportunity where we will have everything from a smartphone through to a tablet through the PC through to the all-in-one. For us it provides a unique opportunity at the time of launch to go out to the market and showcase everything we have that’s available.”

Long is confident that despite Microsoft’s late arrival to the mobile marketplace, the business market is ripe for Windows-powered smartphones and tablets. Samsung is just one of the few companies that will be offering both tablets and smartphones this year and early next year, but this begs the question, are Windows-powered devices only viable in the business market? Will the average consumer want to be locked into the Windows ecosystem once Windows 8 becomes more widely available? What do you think?
