Surface Pro vs Surface RT: Which one is right for you? [Chart]

There has been a lot of anticipation for Surface Pro, and rightly so. It’s a full fledged Windows 8 computer with the size of a tablet. This makes it perfect for professionals who need to do serious computing on the go. But what if you’re just an average Joe? Is Surface Pro right for you, or is Windows RT the way to go?

Basically it comes down to one thing: what kind of apps do you want? Surface Pro can run desktop apps like Photoshop or Vegas Movie Studio, while Surface RT can only run apps from the Windows Store. If you’re just a casual user the Windows Store apps will be enough. There is also a few differences in specs. Check out the chart below to see how the two compare.

    I would go for the Pro, if I was to get one of these. I really like the idea of having a full computer on a tablet. I use a lot of photoshop when I travel, so I wouldn’t just do with an RT.

    The Surface RT has a HD video out port as well.

    You really should finish the list off by showing MS office as an added cost option and there is a limited functionality Mail client on RT.

    You also are still missing the HD out port in the Pro

  • I actually just bought a Vivobook Q200. It is not a surface, but is a great cheap (touchscreen) laptop for 450 bucks.
