Zinio and Nokia have announced a new partnership today that will bring the popular magazine app to Lumia phones in the near future. If you’re unfamiliar with Zinio it is essentially a digital newsstand. It allows users to browse and subscribe to a wide variety of digital magazines. They currently have apps for Android, iOS, Mac, PC, and Windows 8. Thanks to Nokia it will soon be coming to Windows Phone 8.
The app will include a new Reading List with a curated stream of articles from trending magazines. This stream will be able to be customized by the user to show things they care about. The app will download new issues in the background while you’re connected to WiFi so you never have to wait for a new issue before you can read it. Zinio will have a working live tile that shows recent issues, and users will be able to pin magazines to the start screen.
Zinio will only be available on Nokia Lumia devices, but most likely not forever. Zinio said that it will be on Lumia devices “at launch,” which suggests they have a limited exclusivity period. There is no official word on when the app will arrive, but we’ll let you know when it does.
