Among the things announced at this morning’s event in London is an update for existing Lumia devices. Nokia is calling it the Nokia Lumia Amber update, and they have scheduled it for July release. Many features from the newly announced Lumia 925 are coming to a Lumia near you.
The Amber update adds a few big things to existing devices. All devices, except the Lumia 620, will finally get FM radio support. The update will also add the Smart Camera features that Nokia debuted in the Lumia 925. The Smart Camera app adds many features that can be found in other Nokia camera apps, and it can be set as the default camera app. The Lumia 920 and 820 will also add double tap to wake.
Look for the Amber update to arrive in July for all Lumia devices. Nokia wants customers to know that they don’t forget about old devices, and this update will go a long way towards proving that.
