Nokia’s 41MP Lumia EOS coming on July 9th

Lumia camera

When the Nokia Lumia 925 was announced a lot of people were left underwhelmed. That’s not completely unwarranted when you consider the 925 is essentially a Lumia 920 with a metal body. We know Nokia is capable of more, and that will be demonstrated with the next generation of devices.

The next generation will start with the Lumia EOS. Rumors of the EOS started a long time ago along with the Catwalk (Lumia 925). At the 925 event Nokia mentioned they had another phone planned for release this summer. Mobile Geeks is reporting that that device will be the Lumia EOS and could launch as early as July 9th.

The EOS is said to be the first Windows Phone device to have the 41MP PureView camera that was first introduced in the 808 PureView. This is much different from the PureView camera used in the Lumia 920. That is basically just a marketing term. The real PureView is the 41MP beast. It outputs 34MP photos which can then be zoomed in much better than your standard smartphone camera. The report goes on to say that Nokia will be revamping the camera interface in the Lumia EOS.

Unless Apple and Google do something really radical for their next-gen devices, Nokia/Microsoft will have a win with this!

I don’t think I agree with you on this one. Personally, I don’t care much for the camera on my phones. I will be happier with a better camera, but it will never be an important decision factor for me.

If I want nice photos, I will use my DSLR. I know, not everyone wants to carry a big DSLR with lenses. The way I see it, if I am complaining about taking my big camera, the photographs I want to take are not worth the quality anyways. For parties and other random stuff, I don’t care much as long as the picture is clear enough.

Not everyone has, or needs, a DSLR. I just went to New York on vaca and I decided not to take a camera because I didn’t want to lug it around.

Oh totally. What I meant is that it will be at least something people will notice and make buzz about.
